Aida Shines and Captivates Audiences”


December 8, 2017 — Jacksonville, FL — The Tony Award-winning musical Aida, with music and lyrics composed by Sir Elton John and Tim Rice, will be taking the stage at Jacksonville University on February 15, 17, 23, and 25, 2018.


Aida depicts the story of a forbidden romance between Nubian princess Aida and Radames, successor to the Egyptian throne. Entwined with pop-rock ballads such as “Written in the Stars” and “The Gods Love Nubia” and characterized with eye-catching dance numbers, audiences of all ages will be enamored with the tragic tale of Aida.


The show will be directed by Professor Kimberly Beasley, soprano. With other spectacular performances such as Children of Eden, Spring Awakening, and The Light in the Piazza under her belt, Beasley is not unaccustomed to thrilling audiences by showcasing the talents of the performing arts students at Jacksonville University. Esther Olivo and Sade Crosby share the title role of Aida, with other supporting roles split between two casts.


Tickets can be purchased on JU students receive free admission upon presenting their JU student ID, and general admission is $10. You won’t want to miss this amazing performance!
